How do youth sign up for Side by Side support groups?

Youth can join Side by Side support groups at any time as long as they are in the age range and the identity of that particular group. For youth 14-25, simply make an account with us on TraxSolutions. For youth 11-13, at least one parent’s/guardian’s permission is required to attend groups and an additional parent permission form must filled out along with creating a TraxSolutions account. Do I need my parent/guardian’s permission to attend Side by Side programs and events?

Youth who are 11-13 in our Middle School program do need parent/guardian permission to attend Side by Side programs and events.

Youth who are over the age of 14 do not need parent/guardian permission to attend support groups or Side by Side events.

 

How can I get counseling services with Side by Side?

LGBTQ+ Youth 11-25 involved in our Richmond-based support groups or housing program are eligible to receive 1:1 mental health counseling with our counseling team. There is no fee for these sessions. For more information please contact us at info@sidebysideva.org.

 

How do young adults get into our Housing Program?

LGBTQ+ young adults 18-25 experiencing housing instability or homelessness in the Greater Richmond Area are eligible for services in our Housing Program.

 

How can I get my school more supportive of LGBTQ+ students?

Side by Side provides training and technical assistance to schools as well as support for Gender & Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) and more! We will do our best to work within your constraints related to budget and school environment.

 

How can I volunteer with Side by Side?

There are many ways to volunteer and give your time in support of Side by Side and LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in our community. We are always in need of passionate, fabulous, and dedicated volunteers to work with us!
