Queer Prom:

*An Elemental Prom Event*

“Long ago, the elements—Earth, Air, Fire, and Water—whispered their power into the hearts of queer youth. Bold as lightning, soft as rain, wild as wind, and grounded as stone, they grew fierce, fabulous, and free. Now, these elemental forces are uniting with Side by Side for one legendary night where magic, pride, and power collide. The call has gone out, and the chosen ones—you—are ready to rise.”

Welcome to Queer Prom: Fierce by Nature—an epic celebration where you bring the elements to life. Come dressed in your fiercest interpretation of Earth, Air, Fire, or Water. Think flowing silks, fiery reds, mossy greens, or sky-high glam—whatever makes you feel unstoppable. This isn’t just a prom—it’s a queer-powered elemental revolution. Are you ready to ignite?

DATE: August 8, 2025

TIME: 7pm to 10pm

LOCATION: Join the adventure! You must register to find out!

COST: This event is free to attend but suggested $5 donations are accepted at the door.

WHO CAN ATTEND: This event is for high school students only. Ages 14-18.

How to Register:

In order to attend each participant MUST complete an online registration form. At the home page at the top, select “Activities.” From there select “enroll,” you will need to create an account if you do not have membership with our organization.

IMPORTANT please be sure to check your email as we will share the location of our event through the contact information listed in your registration. If you have any challenges with registration or do not have access to safe and private email, please contact us at info@sidebysideva.org or call our office.

Safety:

We are keenly aware of some of the challenges our partner queer organizations are experiencing across the country. We also understand that registering in this way may cause issues for those with limited access. Please contact us if you have any questions, or if there is another way we can connect you with the event.

Once registered, please DO NOT share location information with individuals you do not know or in broad online platforms. We will have volunteers on-site and will discourage participants from hanging outside of the event. Try not to hang out in areas alone, we are here to celebrate our community and lift up queer joy!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Either! Bring a date or bring yourself, but you will not be solo! Please make sure your date registers too!

  • You can leave at anytime but will not be allowed to hang out in the parking lot.

  • We will have some delicious foods, something for everyone! Please contact us if you have specific dietary concerns.

  • We will have a ton of adult volunteers supporting every need we can think of. The location of the event is not being broadly shared with the public and you must register to attend and receive location information. We are also working with a group to provide security support.

  • There will be lots to do! We will have a crafts station, a quiet room to chill and decompress, a gaming station, and a courtyard area if you’d like to get some fresh air!

  • Please ask them to arrive early, but either way we will not leave you alone! We will stay with you until your ride arrives.

  • You can bring your own if you’d like! We will also have some vegan, and gluten free options as well. If you have other specific dietary needs please contact us at info@sidebysideva.org

  • Yes, we will have a quiet room where you can hang and collect yourself or you can grab fresh air in the courtyard area.

  • We want you to be comfortable and unapologetically you! Wear what you would like, dress up or down! Or if you would like to dress for our theme, rock on! We do ask that you refrain from wearing masks that cover your entire face (protective masks are ok).
